- CropMaker is an application that is used to create crop marks, registration marks,
- color bar and guides. It works only with InDesign and on Macintosh. It is not a plugin,
- so it will not show up in plugins menu. Since it is an application, it must be activated
- by double clicking or by selecting from the Apple Menu.
-
- Version 1.5 is written in AppleScript and saved as an application.
- 1.5A will create registration and crop marks, and has an option to lock them.
- 1.5B will also create a color bar
-
- Version 2 is a FaceSpan application and it also uses AppleScript to talk to InDesign.
- 2 Fr is a French version and requires “French” settings in Numbers and Text
- Control Panels.
- 2 Mini is a mini application that requires FaceSpan extension to be installed,
- but it’s very small.
-
- To use it simply put it on your desktop, in the Apple Menu Items or in any other folder
- on your Hard Drive.
-
- To create crop and registration marks simply draw rectangular shape defining your
- crop area (it does not have to be rectangular) in your active InDesign document. Then
- activate CropMaker by double clicking it or by selecting it from the Apple Menu.
- Choose your options and click OK.
-
- Known issues. There is a problem when one of the objects leaves the pasteboard.
- For example, you type in by accident 25 inch bleed. InDesign will error and go
- into a loop displaying the warning message. You must click “OK” about 15-20 times
- before message disapperas. Then select whatever was drawn by CropMaker, delete it
- and try again. CropMaker objects are always grouped, so you don’t have to select
- each individual. Make sure you have enough room on your page and pasteboard
- before using CropMaker. I’ll try to fix that problem ASAP.
-
- Future version will add creation of separate layer and other functions requested
- by users. Feel free to contact me with your requests.
- I will try to write a plugin version of CropMaker to make things easier, but since
- it is a free product and my “computer time” at home is limited,
- it may take some time to write it or may never be finished.
-
- Thanks for taking time to read this and for trying out my CropMaker.
- Please contact me with any questions and your suggestions.
